Sumter's climate and what it means for drywall
Sumter sits in central South Carolina with a humid subtropical climate — hot, humid summers with highs regularly near 90–98°F, mild winters dipping into the mid-30s, and over 45 inches of rain a year, with June typically the wettest month. That combination matters for drywall work in a few real ways:
- Joint compound and texture need proper drying time in high humidity — rushing this is a common cause of repairs failing early
- Water damage repairs need to fully address moisture and mold risk before closing the wall back up, not just patch over a stain
- Older homes without modern vapor barriers can see more condensation-related drywall issues, especially around bathrooms and exterior walls
A note for Shaw AFB families
We know PCS timelines are fixed, not flexible. Whether you're getting a rental repaired before a move-out inspection or getting a new home move-in ready, let us know your timeline when you reach out — we prioritize scheduling around military move dates whenever we can.
